Manu Tukutuku

Three weeks ago we started making a Manu Tukutuku. A Manu Tukutuku is a traditional Maori kite that was used to send messages and tell a tribe that some strangers were approaching their village so the warriors are ready. Some of them were used to tell other tribes that someone died. I am making a manu tukutuku with Aiden. We collected our harakeke from the bush behind our class. We said a karakia before we cut the flax and learned how to cut it in the right place and only take what we need.
